How does Swap Box work?
You list a boxful of quality items (like kids’ clothes, toys, or books). We find a swap partner for you, handle the delivery, and you get something useful in return — all for the price of delivery
What is escrow and how does it protect me?
Before a swap is completed, both users place down a refundable guarantee called an escrow payment. It is held safely in a service provided by a certified payment provider called Stripe. Once you confirm your item arrived in the promised condition, the guarantee is returned to the sender. If there’s a problem then aa complaint is lodged and the system refunds you instead.
When and where is Swap Box launching?
Late 2025 in Brisbane. We’re starting in selected areas with active mum communities. Sign up with your postcode to be the first to know when we go live near you.
How is value determined in a swap?
The person adding the items determines the approximate value. We review the items and if adjustments need to be made to the value then we advise the person listing the items. In some cases people have been known to swap slightly more expensive items for cheaper items as they realise that selling those items could take a while and they would prefer the less expensive item over the hassle.
How are matches made?
Swap matches are based on what you have chosen. Our smart matching system looks at your needs, your items, and the items of others in your area. We use chain-based matching (think: A → B → C → A) to make sure every swap benefits someone and swappers only get the items they chose.
How is delivery handled?
Every Swap Box swap uses one of our traceable Swap Boxes. This ensures the system is safe and secure. Every person who sees a Swap Box knows they are receiving a high quality item, delivered with convenience and trust built in. Once a match is made, we generate a prepaid label and arrange a trusted courier to pick up the box from your door and deliver it to the other user. We also offer Post Box drop off if for some reason you cannot facilitate door to door delivery.
What if I don’t like what I get?
Every item you see has been added with clear photos and descriptions. You're only matched with items you've already chosen as a preference — you never get sent something you didn’t ask for. Plus, you can set your preferences and wishlist to stay in full control of what you receive.
What if my box doesn’t arrive?
All deliveries are tracked from door to door using our smart QR-coded packaging. In addition, each user places an escrow guarantee, which is only released once the item is delivered and confirmed to be in good condition. If the box doesn’t arrive or something goes wrong, the escrow protects you — you’ll receive the value of the item you were meant to get. All our deliveries are insured by our delivery partner Sendle and Australia Post.
How do I know I can trust the other person?
Trust is built into every swap. Every user agrees to a set of rules backed by a cash escrow guarantee. This means no one can take advantage — if someone sends a poor-quality item or fails to ship, the escrow ensures the other person is protected. We also use item videos, user ratings, AI verification, and dispute resolution to keep the system fair, transparent, and safe.
